Several mixed martial arts (MMA) stars such as Chuck Liddell and Jon Jones have been doing their part to de-escalate ongoing protests after George Floyd was killed while being detained by police more than one week ago. More recently, Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, delivered an emotional speech at a Black Lives Matter rally in Auckland, New Zealand, speaking out against systemic racism around the world.

Now, Conor McGregor is also speaking out, lashing out against racism and injustice, which is the genesis for all the unfortunate violence and rioting nationwide.

“There is no place for injustice, racism and intolerance in this world!” he said. “We must really listen and learn from those in pain. Be the example of the change you want to see.

“Praying, hoping, and believing everyday that this is all a part of the lords plan to lead us to a better and brighter future ahead. God speed everyone,” continued the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) double-champion.

The officer who pinned down Floyd with his knee on his neck, Derek Chauvin, was fired and eventually arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Three other officers were also relieved of their duties, and could be charged pending an investigation.

Just yesterday, the official autopsy report confirmed that “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression” was the cause of Floyd’s death.
